Thomas McCrea & Co Ltd are a DVSA approved Tachograph centre. Our tachograph centre offers professional tachograph services for vehicles to ensure accuracy, compliance and safety.
Our workshop based in Newtownabbey specializes in comprehensive truck & van repair services, ensuring your commercial vehicles are back on the road in optimal condition.
2019 saw the introduction of Smart Tachographs into all new vehicles registered from 19th June 2019. As of 21 Aug 2023, the updated Smart Tachograph version 2 (SMT2) is now mandatory for newly registered vehicles. This advanced version of Smart with real time GNSS will also become mandatory for all vehicles involved in international transport. A full retrofit program is therefore required in order to replace all existing Analogue and Digital Tachographs in cross border vehicles.
This is a phased process and the transition period has now begun: Trucks with an Analogue or Digital Tachograph should have an SMT2 no later than 31st December 2024 Trucks that have a smart tachograph type 1 should be fitted with an SMT2 by 19th August 2025

Our modern inspection facilities allow us to inspect all commercial vehicles and trailers to a high standard. We can send inspection reports direct to your email, giving you an accurate and up to date record of vehicle condition.

- - Brake Testing and Adjustment - Headlight Alignment - All other miscellaneous repairs also carried out. Our full length unit and trailer inspection pits give us unrestricted access to vehicles ensuring that all repairs are carried out to the highest possible standard.
